Teacher’s aide arrested for child porn

WILTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A meeting has been scheduled to try and calm the fears of Wilton parents after a teachers’ aide is accused of having and sharing explicit images.

Just as the last school year was ending, Wilton’s schools superintendent says he got word from state and federal law enforcement that a school employee – a teacher’s aide in the preschool – was being investigated for child pornography. Now that the aid, 33-year-old Eric Von Kohorn, has been arrested, the Superintendent can tell the public what happened.

“We immediately placed him on administrative leave. He was removed from school grounds and not permitted to return,” Wilton Schools Superintendent Dr. Kevin J. Smith wrote in a letter to parents. “We have cooperated fully with the investigation and will continue to do so. Mr. Von Kohorn resigned his position with Wilton Public Schools on June 16th.”

Police arrested Von Kohorn on Wednesday, August 20. According to the superintendent there are two charges: possessing and sharing child pornography.

“The authorities have informed us that there is no evidence that he produced pornography himself and no Wilton children were photographed or harmed,” writes Smith. “The authorities also shared that the charges stem from Mr. Von Kohorn’s behavior at his residence and not while he was at work.”

According to the superintendent’s letter, there will be a meeting Monday night at 7 p.m. at the Middlebrook School to try to answer all the parent’s questions. Also attending that meeting will be a psychiatric consultant who is also a clinical instructor at Yale. That doctor will also be available at the preschool the next morning, Tuesday morning, to answer parents’ questions.

Superintendent Smith stresses that Von Kohorn passed a background check, just like every other employee, and employees’ internet usage is always monitored as well.
