Man struck, killed by train in Naugatuck

NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH)– Police are investigating the death of a man struck by a train in Naugatuck, Tuesday night.

The MTA confirms that a man was hit by a train 800 feet south of the Naugatuck Train Station, near the overpass located south of Maple Street, around 6:47 p.m. Police are investigating as to why that man was on the tracks.

Trains are being replaced with bus services for the rest of the night. Passengers were unloaded off the train involved with the help of the fire department. Stairways and ladders were used to escort passengers one by one off the train and fire officials escorted them to the nearest platform.

There is no further information at this time.
