Father Charged for Hitting Child

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Police in North Haven have arrested a man they say hit his 3-year-old daughter in the face.   Police say there was a report of a man lying on the ground with a young child near the road around the area of Quinnipiac Avenue and Middletown Avenue on Wednesday.

When they arrived they say they found 44-year-old Elliot Sanchez lying on his back in the parking lot of the Mobile Gas Station. They also found his three-year-old daughter with him.  Her face was covered in blood. Investigators say Sanchez hit his daughter in her face causing bruising around both of her eyes, and to her right ear.  She also suffered a nosebleed. Investigators also say there were finger shaped bruises around the child’s arms.

Sanchez’s daughter was taken to the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. Meanwhile, Sanchez has been taken into custody and charged with Risk of Injury to a Child, Breach of Peace and Assault.
