WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) — Four people, including an on-duty state trooper, have been hospitalized when the officer rear-ended a truck on Interstate 84 in Waterbury.

State Police said Monday that Donald E. Comstock Jr., struck a truck on Sunday. Police say the truck driver stopped due to traffic and the 44-year-old Comstock was unable to stop in time.

Comstock, the truck driver and two passengers in the truck suffered neck and back pain and were taken by ambulance to Saint Mary’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police say the truck and Comstock’s car were heavily damaged.
