AVON, Conn. (WTNH)- An Avon school will be renamed in honor of one of the victims of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Elementary School will now be called the CREC Ana Grace Academy of the Arts Elementary School. And, the school’s curriculum will involve the motto “Love Wins,” a campaign to spread love, connection and community, that was started by Ana Grace’s family. Both of Ana Grace’s parents, Nelba Marquez-Greene and Jimmy Greene went to the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, and were teachers there.

The Greene family says they are “overwhelmed with joy to have a magnet school named after our caramel princess. Its hallways are filled with the art and laughter of children from diverse backgrounds.”

Right now, the school is in a temporary building in Avon. Once there is a permanent facility for the school, there will be a naming ceremony.
