Double shooting in Waterbury.

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH)– A 25-year-old man was killed and another man was injured in a double shooting in Waterbury Tuesday evening.

Police say the shooting happened outside 309 Walnut Street, next to the fire house, across the street from a community learning center at 5:15 p.m. The 25-year-old man was shot multiple times in the torso and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital. He died from his injures about one hour later.

A 31-year-old man was also shot in the face during the incident. He was dropped off at St. Mary’s Hospital by a friend where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say it appears the suspect and the victim knew each other and that the shooting happened after a confrontation between the two men. The names of the victims are not being released at this time.

Police say they have spent the night canvassing the neighborhood to collect evidence and conduct interviews. Investigators say they have strong leads in the case but are asking anyone with information to call them at  203-574-6911 or 203-574-6941.
