NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – We’ve got lots of orchards here in the fine state of Connecticut, but you can do more with apples besides just eating them.
Making mason jars and making them into fun apple containers for teacher gifts, seasonal storage, or just fun fall decor
Take plain red paper and using this origami technique, make easy paper apples.
Ever been apple picking and end up with a surplus of apples? Use them to make these fun apple prints
You can also take the extra apples and use them as a festive table decoration by drilling a hole and placing a small votive candle inside.
Finally…. there are lots of ways to incorporate your apple picking adventures in more academic ways:
For younger students: sorting the colors, a taste test, or an apple graph
For older students: apple seed addition (add the seeds from one apple to the seeds from another), apple fractions or apple seed science experiments (plant the seed and see what happens)
