BOLTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A Coventry man was killed Friday while riding in an SUV that crashed at a busy intersection in Bolton early. A second person was seriously injured.
Police identified the person killed as Thomas Hendel, age 21. The owner of the vehicle, Emily Mills, 23, of Wauregan, suffered rib and pelvis injuries, police said.
Mills’ 1997 Chevy Tahoe crashed at the intersection of I-384 and Notch Road 2:00 a.m., and came to rest on top of the guard rail. According to an accident report the Chevy “failed to negotiate a curve and collided with a metal beam guardrail.”
A Life Star helicopter was called to the scene and took Mills to the hospital.
Traffic was detoured around the area for nearly five hours. The roads were back open a little before 7 a.m.
