WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH)- As part of Waterbury Water’s ongoing efforts to address the issue of aging infrastructure, an improvement project has been scheduled on Spring Lake Road. This project will rehabilitate an 80+ year old cast iron water pipe, and replace the shut off valves along its length. This will enable higher flow rates, improved water pressure and water quality, and will facilitate in faster response times to future emergencies.
Waterbury Water will begin work the first week of October and concluding by the end of November, 2014. During construction residents, motorists and pedestrians can expect to see:
§ Hoses connected to fire hydrants and above ground plastic piping
§ Intermittent traffic lane and street parking closures
§ Water released for required water quality-related flushing
§ Construction equipment and materials
§ Steel plate road covers for temporary street openings
§ Some limited asphalt paving areas
