Reward offered for arrest in fatal BB gun shooting of dog

Home on Briarwood Road where a dog was shot and killed by a BB gun.

BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH)– The owners of a local business in Bristol are now stepping up and offering a reward after someone shot a dog with a BB gun. The animal later died.

It happened in the front yard of a home on Briarwood Road.

Jim’s Collectibles and Firearms is offering $500 to anyone providing information that leads to an arrest. The three-year-old Carin Terrier that was named Andrew was shot last week.

Residents say things like that don’t happen in their neighborhood.

“We were driving up the road and we heard some dog screeching, we weren’t sure where it was coming from,” said Richard McCarthy, neighbor. Then I saw Tracy, the dog’s owner, come running out and pick up the dog. He was bleeding and then eventually she ended up taking him to the vet and the vet confirmed that the dog had been shot into the lung and into the spine. And then died shortly there after. Just the cutest nicest dog ever. I just cant fathom anybody doing something like this.”

The vet found multiple BB pellets inside the dog.

Bristol police are investigating the shooting as a case of animal cruelty. Anyone with information is urged to call police.
