Ways to boost your energy

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Put down that cup of java and step away from the energy drink! Having enough energy to get through your day is important, but there are better ways to get a boost besides overloading on caffeine.

Eat right:
Maybe the most important thing to do is make sure you eat a balanced diet. Having enough magnesium in your diet is important, magnesium can be found in foods like almonds, whole grains, and fish.

Make sure you get exercise, even a quick stroll around the block will work. Ten minutes will boost your energy for about two hours!

Stress buster:
Reduce your stress, because too much of it can wear you down. Try calming activities like yoga or a relaxing bath.

Drink more water and less alcohol. If you are even slightly dehydrated you may feel tired, and if you feel tired after waking up try replacing alcoholic beverages with water during the evening hours.

And finally, make sure you are actually getting enough sleep each night. Nothing gives you an energy boost quite like a solid night’s sleep.
