WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – If you need to have a question answered a good place to start is where there is a helping hand. One of those places is the Westport Library where staff are more than happy to answer any inquiry thrown their way whether it is from a human or humanoid.
In late September the library acquired two robots that right now are in the process of “learning.” Every time they beep twice their software is being updated.
“They’re constantly learning,” said Alex Giannini with the Westport Library, “What we want to do is use the robots as a teaching tool to run workshops and classrooms on coding software.”
But right now what people seem most fascinated with is their ability to dialogue, mimic human behavior, and even do tai chi.
The cost of one robot is $8,000. Library officials tell News 8 they were able to pay for their robots with the help of three grants.
