Former Bridgeport basketball star found guilty of murder

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A former basketball player from Bridgeport has been found guilty of murder.

Dennis “Sleepy” Salmond is now facing up to 65 years in prison for killing a rival drug dealer.

According to the Connecticut Post Salmond was found guilty for killing Kiaunte Ware back in 2013.

According to police the murder stemmed from a fight over drug territory.

Salmond will be sentenced next month.

He played for Harding High School in the 1990s.
