Police say thief posed as Westport wedding guest

WESTPORT, Conn. (AP) — Westport police are looking for a man they say posed as a guest at a wedding reception and stole gifts from the bride and groom.

Police say the man, believed to be between 25 and 35 years old, fled the Longshore Inn just after 7 p.m. Saturday with a birdcage filled with wedding cards, many apparently containing cash for the couple.

Police used dogs to try and track the man. They recovered the empty cage.

The man was captured on video surveillance cameras and police released screen grabs in hopes somebody might recognize the wedding crasher.
