Shawn Bell, Jr., nephew of Firefighter Kevin Bell.

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Shawn Bell, Jr., the nephew of fallen Hartford Firefighter Kevin Bell, reads cards from his classmates and teacher at the funeral of his uncle.

Shawn is a fifth grade student in Windsor, and his classmates wanted to do something special for him. One card read:

To Shawn and his family; words can not tell how sorry I am. Your uncle must have been so special to you and your family. The men in his department have truly lost a hero. Please take time to heal and I’ll help you as much as possible.

Another card read:

Shawn; at least your uncle is in a better place now.

And another read:

“Dear Shawn; I’m sorry for what happened to your uncle Kevin Bell but you should know that he is with you all the time.”
