Convicted felons arrested in Bristol

BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH)– Bristol police arrested two convicted felons after a traffic stop Wednesday night.

Police say they stopped a car on Maltby Street near Stafford Avenue for running a stop sign. During the stop, officers say they found the driver in possession of cocaine.

Jayson Bruno of Bristol, 31, is charged with illegal possession of narcotics and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.

Police say Bruno’s passenger, 37-year-old Rafael Rivera of Bristol, had a warrant for his arrest dating back to a November 2010 domestic violence incident.

Rivera is charged with third-degree assault, sexual assault in a cohabitating relationship, and breach of peace. He’s being held on $150,000 bond and is scheduled to be in Bristol Superior Court on Thursday.

Bruno was released after posting $25,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in court Oct. 27.
