NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH)– Adam Browne pleaded guilty Wednesday to shaking his 2-month-old son to death.
The 24-year-old father roughly shook his two-and-a-half month old son to death a year ago when the child would not stop crying. Browne accepted a plea offer worked out between the prosecutor, the public defender’s office and the Judge.
Browne pleaded guilty under the Alford Doctrine, which indicates he does not agree with all of the state’s allegations, but does not want to risk a harsher sentence should he be convicted at trial.
According to the The Day of New London, Browne will be sentenced Dec. 11 in New London Superior Court to 14 years in prison followed by five years of probation for first-degree manslaughter.
