Pratt and Whitney wins Pentagon contract

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — An aerospace company out of East Hartford has won a major contract to build for the Pentagon.

Pratt and Whitney has been selected to build the propulsion system to go into the F-35 Lightning II aircraft. The contract is worth $680 million and is to build 36 engines.

Pratt and Whitney is part of United Technologies Corporation, that’s Connecticut’s largest private employer.
