Celebrating National Pasta Day

(WTNH)– Pasta lovers start cooking your sauce because today is National Pasta Day!

Pasta is a popular food all over the world. From spaghetti, to tortellini, to rotini, to lasagna, to gnocchi, there are hundreds of different kinds of pastas. And it can all be made differently depending on what temperature you eat it at and what kind of sauce you use!

While many believe pasta was discovered in Asia by Marco Polo who then brought it to Italy, early Romans were using a simple flour and dough to make macaroni.  Thomas Jefferson is credited with first bringing a pasta machine to America in 1789, after tasting it in Naples while he was the American Ambassador to France.
