Daycare worker accused of child abuse

MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH)–A day-care worker caught on camera allegedly abusing a small child in her care is now facing charges.

The woman’s name is Devan Vaonover. News 8 saw the video which is very disturbing, although police will not release copies of it saying it is in evidence. However, according to a court affidavit, while working at ABC Daycare, in Manchester, which is owned the Vanover’s mother, she was seen aggressively shoving a food into the mouth of a 1-year-old child, and trying to force a pacifier into it’s mouth when the baby wouldn’t stop crying.

Later the baby was found bleeding from the mouth and gums. The affidavit also says doctors examined the baby and found lacerations to the mouth looked that like they were caused by someone forcing something into its mouth.

A co-worker also claims she was aggressive toward another child and often used abusive language toward them.

“This is an individual who is entrusted with the care of children The allegations in this warrant I think that a bond in the amount of 50,000 cash or surety,” said a prosecutor.

“She would never hurt a child,” said Bill Horan, Vanover’s attorney.

Her bond was set at 45 thousand dollars. The judge says she is not allowed to take any jobs working with minors and ordered her to stay away from alleged victims.
