Naugatuck, Conn. (WTNH) — Naugatuck High School, City Hill Middle School, and Maple Hill School were all locked down Monday morning after police received reports of a suicidal teen.

At 9:30am, Naugatuck Police responded after concerned students informed them that a fellow student had contacted them with information that they were feeling suicidal. The information obtained indicated that the teen may have had a handgun in their possession.

Officers responded to the student’s residence on May Street, and as a precautionary measure, asked that the three schools be locked down until they were able to locate the troubled teen. The student involved was located by officers at their residence, and the teen was determined to be safe and unharmed.

After the situation was resolved, police signaled for the lockdowns to be lifted. The three schools were in lockdown for about 30 minutes, and returned to a normal school day.
