WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH)– Another rash of robberies in Willimantic kept police busy this weekend. They are now investigating three holdups in three days.
The first happened at the Cumberland Farms after midnight Friday. Then Saturday night the Sun Mart was hit, followed by Sunday night’s robbery at the Shell Gas Station on West Main Street.
All were along the same stretch of road, but police are treating them as separate robberies. One common factor, no one was hurt in any of them.
“Friday’s there was a black handgun that was displayed,” said Cpl. Stan Parizo of the Willimantic police. “Both Saturday evening’s and again last evening the firearm was implied, but not shown to the clerk.”
“Is there a concern someone could get hurt?” we asked.
“There is,” said Cpl. Parizo. “Anytime we’re dealing with firearms and these types of crimes of course there’s a concern.”
Sunday’s suspect is described as a 5’9″ Caucasian male wearing blue jeans, a dark mask, and a black hoodie.
It is believe that he arrived and fled on foot.
Police are seeking the public’s help in solving the weekend hold-ups because that input was key in identifying the suspects in the last round of robberies this summer in Willimantic.
“It was extremely helpful,” said Cpl. Parizo. “Again we’re looking for the public’s assistance on all three of these robberies. Last night, as you know, on West Main Street it’s a very very busy stretch of roadway. Somebody may have seen a male dressed in all black with a hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head with a black mask on walking around Route 32 which is West Main Street.”
Police say any tips or information will be confidential.
