Connecticut gas prices down, still above national average

(WTNH)- Connecticut gas prices are are a downward trend. In the past week, prices have dropped 7 cents from $3.49 to 3.42. One month ago gas prices stood at $3.63.  According to, gas prices in Connecticut are 25 cents lower now than this time last year.

The cheapest places to buy gas in Connecticut are towards the middle of the state. Hartford and Middlesex counties are averaging gas prices between $3.29 or less, and $3.32.

Although average are prices lower this year, Connecticut still remains one of the more expensive states for gas. The national average is $3.10, 32 cents cheaper than the Connecticut average.

In order to find the cheapest gas near you, try using apps like GasBuddy, SmartFuel, Fuel Finder, and car-pal+.

Some easy fuel-saving tips:

  • Avoid High Speeds
  • Do Not Accelerate or Brake Hard
  • Keep Tires Properly Inflated
  • Use A/C Sparingly
  • Keep Windows Closed
  • Service Vehicle Regularly
