Hamden, Conn. (WTNH) — Hamden High School was evacuated late Wednesday morning due to a bomb threat.

Officials received word of the bomb threat at 2040 Dixwell Avenue just before noon. Students at Hamden High tell News 8 that one student ran through the hallway draped in a blue tarp claiming to have a bomb. That student then pulled the fire alarm.

Faculty, staff, and students were all moved to the ice rink building behind the school while the bomb squad was on the scene sweeping the classroom building.

The bomb squad completed their sweep of the building and determined that there were no explosive devices anywhere on school grounds. Students returned to class briefly, but were dismissed at their usual time of 1:45 p.m.
