Sickle cell anemia is a hereditary blood disorder in which there aren’t enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen throughout the body. There is no cure. Sickle cell anemia is most common in people whose families come from Africa, South or Central America (especially Panama), Caribbean islands, Mediterranean countries (such as Turkey, Greece, and Italy), India and Saudi Arabia.
To help raise awareness of Sickle Cell Anemia, the individuals who get a haircut, will take a picture holding a fact about Sickle Cell, which will be posted on the chapter’s Instagram page: kappa.lau
