Hartford police investigate murder near hospital

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– Police are investigating a murder in Hartford that left one man dead early Wednesday morning on Jefferson Street, just steps away from Hartford Hospital.

According to Deputy Chief Brian Foley, with the Hartford Police Department, officers received several alerts shortly before 1:30 a.m. that the city’s Shot Spotter system detected 15 gunshots in the area of Jefferson Street. After arriving on the scene, police found a 24 year old man who had been shot several times, according to Foley. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives spent all morning on the scene investigating what happened and interviewing witnesses. Right now the search is on for one or more suspects who were involved with this shooting.

The identity of the victim has not been released as of yet. Hartford Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding this shooting death to give them a call.
