Norwich police make arrest in domestic violence case

Norwich, Conn. (WTNH) — Norwich police have arrested a man they say was behind a violent domestic assault on Rogers Avenue Wednesday morning.

At 9:45 a.m., police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a loud and violent domestic disturbance at 33 Rogers Avenue. Officers met with the 43-year-old female victim who had sustained obvious facial and body injuries after a physical confrontation. She told cops that the suspect had fled the scene, and she described both her attacker and his vehicle. She was subsequently transported to Backus Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.

The suspect was identified as 61-year-old Charles L. Davis, of Norwich. Around 11:45 a.m., officers located Davis as he was driving to his residence on Broadway. He was taken into custody without incident.

Davis faces multiple charges including battery, assault, burglary, and strangulation. Davis has three open domestic violence cases pending already, and was free on bond until his next court date on Friday at the time of today’s arrest.
