MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — A West Haven man has admitted to throwing boiling oil on his estranged wife who prosecutors say required four skin grafts and nearly a month in the hospital.
The New Haven Register reports that Mohammad A. Chaudhry pleaded guilty Tuesday to first-degree assault.
Prosecutor Amy L. Bepko said in Milford Superior Court that the woman, who was attacked while asleep, also suffered third-degree burns over 15 percent of her upper body.
The 52-year-old Chaudhry, a native of Pakistan, appeared with an interpreter and his lawyer.
Chaudhry fled after the Dec. 18, 2013, attack and was apprehended by West Haven police. Bepko said he asked officers several times if his estranged wife’s face was disfigured.
He faces 10 to 15 years at sentencing Jan. 26. He’s being held at Northern Correctional Center in Somers.
