(WTNH)– Joe Visconti, the Independent candidate, has dropped out of the Governor’s race and now endorses Republican Tom Foley.

Visconti dropped out of the race around noon Sunday at a Tom Foley event in Brookfield. Current Governor and Democrat Dannel Malloy is running against businessman Foley. While it’s technically too late to remove Visconti’s name from the ballot as “petitioning candidate” he is urging voters to vote for Foley.

Last week’s Quinnipiac poll showed Visconti was favored by 7 percent, while the race between Foley and Malloy was deadlocked.

Also on Sunday morning, Foley and Malloy took part in the final round table discussion where they debated several issues. Visconti was not at that forum.

Election Day is this Tuesday, November 4th.
