Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) – A Trumbull Accountant was sentenced today for his role in defrauding a Bridgeport property owner. Fifty-five year old Thomas Ragonese was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Hartford to three years probation. He must spend the frist six month of his probation in home confinement and wear an electronic monitoring device. In addition he was ordered to perform 60 hours of community service. According to court documents and testimony, Ragonese, along with Anthony Testo and his business ACT Builders, Inc, who was managing an apartment complex and several single and multi-family residences, defrauded the property owner by submitting fraudulent rent roll showing units were vacant when actually they were collecting rent on those units. Records show Testo was keeping the rent money & Ragonese prepared a false tax return for Testo. Testo was sentenced Monday to five month in a halfway house and three years of supervised release. Testo must also pay an $18,000 fine and $275,000 in restitution plust penalties and interest.
