Madison, Conn. (WTNH) — This is beyond thrilling news. Amanda and Chris Bernier, both Madison firefighters, have given birth to a healthy baby girl who has been named Arabella Grace. She bounced into the world this morning, on Election Day, at Yale New Haven Hospital weighing 6 pounds, 5 ounces. This is all so very remarkable because Amanda has ALS, a very rare kind that will eventually take her life. She has been hospitalized for some time to take the very best care of herself in order to get her baby here. Amanda and Chris are amazing people and their town of Madison has rallied around them in every way possible. I am beyond thrilled for this very brave couple.
Cards and letters can be sent to the Berniers here:
North Madison Volunteer Fire Company, 864 Opening Hill Road, Madison, 06443
Amanda and Chris, thanks to folks who have helped them, will bring Amanda and the baby home, but their bills are so high. I am helping them by selling angels made by a woman named Ellen Maguire in Madison at my boutique in Madison called Annie Mame. I am at 11 Garnet Park Road in Madison, so if you would like to buy one of these angels stop by.
