Greenwich police arrest suspect after overdose

GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) — A Greenwich man has been arrested on narcotics charges after a teen overdosed on heroin.

Greenwich Time reports that emergency responders administered naloxone, which is a chemical agent that neutralizes opioids often known as Narcan. The overdose was the third reported in Greenwich this year.

Police say Casey Ritch supplied the 18-year-old youth with narcotics. Police have not identified the youngster.

Police arrested Ritch on narcotics charges. He faces charges for possession and sale of narcotics and remains in custody after failing to post a $100,000 bond.

Police say the 37-year-old Ritch was arrested in 2011 after he was found with heroin and a syringe following a traffic stop. He spent 15 months in prison for drug possession.

It was not known Tuesday morning if he’s represented by a lawyer.
