Hartford man arrested for allegedly trying to receive marijuana through mail

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– Wallingford police have arrested a Hartford man who tried receiving marijuana through the mail Tuesday.

Thirty-eight-year-old Clifton Knight is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and possession of more than four ounces of marijuana.

Police say they intercepted two suspicious packages addressed to a private mailbox at the UPS Store on North Plains Industrial Road in Wallingford. A narcotics detection dog positively alerted on both packages, leading police to obtain a search and seizure warrant. They say they then set up a controlled delivery and arrested Knight when he arrived to claim the packages.

Police seized the two packages containing a total of 12 pounds of marijuana, Knight’s car, and $2,000 cash.

Knight is being held on $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday.
