Pedestrian killed in Mansfield

Mansfield, Conn. (WTNH)– A pedestrian died Monday evening after being struck by a car in Mansfield.

According to state police, the vehicle was driving west in the 100 block of Crane Hill Road, when the pedestrian, Susan Chappa of Storrs, was also walking west in the grassy shoulder of the road. The driver struck Chappa with the front end of the vehicle, which came to a rest in the center of the roadway. Police say Chappa was found laying in the roadway.

Chappa was sent to Windham Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured in the incident. Anyone with any information in regards to the incident is asked to call Trooper Davison at 860-896-3200.
