Stratford man arrested in alleged carjacking

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH)– Bridgeport police have arrested a Stratford man accused in an armed carjacking.

Officers were patrolling Saturday when their license plate reader “hit” on a 2007 Nissan Frontier the say was stolen by Hector Xavier Diaz on Friday. Police found the truck parked on Charles Street and observed Diaz enter it.

Police say they followed the truck to a parking lot on North Avenue. An officer blocked an exit with his cruiser as Diaz tried to leave. According to police, Diaz hit the cruiser’s pushbar.

Diaz is charged with carjacking and second-degree larceny. He is held on $500,000 bond.
