Vernon, Conn. (WTNH) — A 66-year-old Manchester man is facing multiple charges including negligent homicide after a police investigation determined he struck a woman crossing the street with his car.
On Monday morning, police arrested Robert Maly of Manchester and charged him in the fatal accident. He is charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, failure to drive right, passing on the right, operating a motor vehicle with unsafe tires, and failure to avoid a pedestrian.
On July 2nd, Maly was traveling eastbound on Hyde Avenue (Route 30) in Vernon when he struck 58-year-old Kathleen Jasak as she attempted to cross the street. Jasak died at the scene.
Maly was not formally charged with any wrongdoing until today. He turned himself in as soon as he heard there was a warrant out for his arrest. He was held on a $10,000 bond, and was arraigned at Rockville Superior Court on Monday morning.
