WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTNH)–State representative Rosa DeLauro’s home on East Capitol Avenue in Washington D.C. was burglarized Friday evening, the congresswoman’s spokesman confirmed on Monday.

According to spokesman Sara Lonardo, the burglary began when the home was empty but DeLauro’s husband Stan Greenberg interrupted it in progress and notified police. DeLauro herself was not present.

Police apprehended the burglar at the scene. No one was harmed in the incident. The alleged burglar was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

The Connecticut Democrat was recently elected to her 13th consecutive term, defeating Republican James Brown of Stratford.
