Thanksgiving Food Basket Campaign

(WTNH)– Chief Marketing Officer Tom DeVitto and Dir. of Development, Christian Community Action Al May tal about the The BlumShapiro Thanksgiving Food Basket Campaign for Christian Community Action.

For the third consecutive year, BlumShapiro is partnering with Christian Community Action (CCA), News 8, iHeartRadio, Big Y and others to help bring a full traditional dinner to the Thanksgiving Day tables of families and seniors in New Haven. The community impact of the BlumShapiro Thanksgiving Food Basket Campaign for CCA is a fact: In each of the past two years, more than 2,000 people and families in New Haven were provided a complete Thanksgiving Day meal.

Non-perishable food and monetary contributions are being accepted now through November 19.  Non-perishable food items include canned vegetables and fruit, macaroni and cheese, rice, beans, cranberry sauce, etc. The public is invited to drop-off their donated food and/or financial contributions to Christian Community Action, located at 168 Davenport Avenue, New Haven, CT, 06519.  Financial contributions can also be made online to Christian Community Action at

During the weekend of November 22-23, nearly 40 BlumShapiro volunteers and many more from the community sort and bag all food donations in preparation for distribution. From Monday – Wednesday, November 24-26, Christian Community Action distribute bags of our donated foods and turkeys to families and seniors prior to Thanksgiving Day, November 27.  People must obtain a ticket in advance that will list the specific time and day to pick up their Thanksgiving Day meal at 555 Columbus Avenue in New Haven, site of Casa de Oración y Adoración.
