The 46th Celebration of American Crafts

(WTNH)– Public Relations Manager Katherine Spencer Carey from Creative Arts Workshop talks about The 46th Celebration of American Crafts – an annual exhibition and sale of fine, contemporary crafts sponsored by Creative Arts Workshop.

Carey discusses:
– History of the Celebration, an iconic event at the Workshop
– Funding goes to support CAW community programming
– Special events: Celebrate Style Fashion show on 11/16, Crafternoon (communal crafting event) on 12/7

Creative Arts Workshop is a non-profit community art center devoted to fostering creativity through participation in and appreciation of the visual arts, serving the Greater New Haven area and beyond since 1961. The Workshop is a premiere learning center for the visual arts, offering a wide range of classes and workshops to students of all ages in fully equipped studios. More than 2,000 adults and 1,000 young people enroll in more than 300 courses offered in book arts, decorative arts, design, drawing, fiber, jewelry, painting, photography, pottery, printmaking, and sculpture. Along with its education program, the Workshop maintains an active exhibition program in its two galleries that are free to the public: the two-story Hilles Gallery and smaller Creative Works. Over the course of a year, thousands of people visit the Workshop to enjoy national and regional exhibitions.
