Hamden, Conn. (WTNH) — The UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams get most of the basketball headlines in this state, but there are six other Division I programs in Connecticut, where some pretty good ball is played.

The men’s basketball coaches from Yale, Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut State University, Faifield, Sacred Heart, and University of Hartford gathered at Quinnipiac Tuesday to promote this Friday’s night’s “Connecticut Six” basketball tournament. The tournament will feature the six teams from those schools playing in a three game tournament.

The goal is to help promote and win fans for Connecticut’s six other Division I basketball teams in our state.

“If you like college basketball,  journey down to Quinnipiac and I think you’ll definitely find a pleasureable afternoon and evening,” Central Connecticut Coach Howie Dickenman said.

All three games will be played at Quinnipiac. The tripleheader starts at 3:00 p.m. this Friday. More information is available online at
