New Haven receives national safety award

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– The city of New Haven was presented with a national safety award on Tuesday.

The award recognizes the city for it’s community policing. The alliances between local residents, non-profits, and police have helped make New Haven’s Newhallville neighborhood a safer place to live.

The Metlife Foundation Community-Police Partnership Award includes a $20,000 grant.

The city says Newhallville is already changing.
