New London police catch attempted armed robber

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH)– New London police have arrested the man they say tried robbing a store at gunpoint early Tuesday morning.

Police say Kirk Skinner tried holding up the DB Mart on Bank Street at gunpoint.

According to police, they found evidence linking Skinner to the robbery and confirmed he was the suspect after interviewing him.

Skinner is charged with first-degree attempted robbery, and criminal possession of a firearm. Police say he is currently on probation and has been convicted on robbery charges in the past.
