New London police search for suspect in attempted armed robbery

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH)– New London police are searching for the suspect who tried robbing a store at gunpoint early Tuesday morning.

Police say the suspect went into the DB Mart on Bank Street around 4 a.m., ordered two customers to the floor, and demanded money from the clerk. They say the clerk refused to open the register, then the suspect threatened to shoot the clerk.

According to police, the suspect was unable to open the register on his own and left the store.

The suspect is described as a bald black man between 5’7″ and 5’9″ tall, weighing 210-220 pounds.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the incident is asked to call the New London Police Department at (860) 442-4444.
