TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)– Torrington fire officials are investigating what caused a two-alarm fire at a multi-family home on Main Street late Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out just after 11:30 a.m. at 404 Main Street. Four people were inside the home when the fire began. All were able to escape the home without injury, but a mother and her child were later taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The roof collapsed as fire crews worked to put out the fire. The home was destroyed.

Investigators are conducting their investigation into the cause. Volunteers from the Red Cross are assisting the displaced residents.
