Shelton man arrested in Fairfield home burglary

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH)– Fairfield police have arrested a Shelton man who they say burglarized a home in Southport.

Residents of a Kings Drive home found a burglar in it when they returned Friday afternoon. The suspect, Jorge Valdes, fled the scene in a pickup truck. Soon after, officers stopped the vehicle, which they found traveling southbound on I-95.

Valdes, 51, is charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny, and possession of burglary tools. He is being held on $100,000 bond.

Valdes has a criminal past. In 2012, he was convicted of burglary and larceny. In that case, he was sentenced to five years in jail, suspended after three years.
