State police charge man with manslaughter in 2013 death

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – Friday, state police arrested Cesar “David” Martinez in connection with the April 2013 death of 21-year-old Brenda Hernandez.

In April 2013, state police responded to the I-95 northbound on-ramp at exit 21 and found Hernandez unresponsive in a car. She was later pronounced dead.

An investigation indicated Hernandez was in a argument with a person in the back seat and that she may have tried jumping out of the moving vehicle. The person in the back seat was holding her from jumping out of the car until her body suddenly went limp.

The investigation led to an arrest warrant for Martinez, who was arrested Friday morning at Bridgeport Superior Court.

Martinez is charged with first-degree manslaughter. He is being held on $250,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
