Police arrest teen gang member with gun, marijuana

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford Police arrested a gang member under 18 years old for having a gun and drugs on him on Saturday night.

The Shooting Task Force was scoping out the area of Garden Street when they identified the teen with an active arrest warrant. Police say he is a member of the Dumout Gang.

Authorities approached the suspect while he was walking south on 370 Garden Street, just after 10:30 pm.

Police successfully identified the teen and found a loaded Colt .32 caliber pistol and 12 Ziplock bags of marijuana in his possession.

The young male was taken to the Juvenile Investigative Division to be processed, and later transported to the Juvenile Detention Facility in Hartford, according to police.

Police did not release the name of the individual because he is under the age of 18.

The teen is facing charges including Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Possession of Marijuana, and Take Into Custody Order.
