Winterfest in Hartford
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Colder temperatures means Winterfest!
This year it kicks off in hartford just after Thanksgiving. Bob Crawford a former Hartford Whaler who is now the owner of Champions Ice Managment, joins Sam Kantrow on set to talk about Winterfest in Hartford.
Winterfest Hartford 2014 kicks off with an opening ceremony on November 28th at 4:30 p.m. Winterfest 2014 Opening Day will feature live figure skating performances, an ice sculpture, free public skating, pictures with Santa, speeches by local city leaders and live entertainment provided by DJ Cajar.The Winterfest Hartford Skating rink will be open 4:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on opening night. The rink will then be open noon until 8:00 p.m. every day of the week.
On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day the rink will be available to the public 12:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. Visitors will be able to skate from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on New Year’s Eve.
Santa will be available for pictures in the Bushnell Park Pump House from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. every weekend leading up to Christmas. Each family receives 1 free 5×7 photo. Up to four additional prints and digital files are available for purchase.
Winterfest started in 2008 and has grown every year. The outdoor skating rink debuted in 2010. Today Winterfest hosts more than 55,000 skaters and over 50,000 spectators.
The season will run from November 28, 2014 until February 1, 2015.
