SEYMOUR, Conn. (WTNH)– A couple in Seymour invited anyone and everyone to their home Sunday morning and it was all for a good cause.
It was the 10th annual “Toys for Kids” event. The homeowners and volunteers served breakfast to some 500 people who showed up. But in order to eat, you had to donate a new, unwrapped toy. All the toys are then given to a non-profit organization known as “team.”
“Team is a community action agency here in the valley region and we manage programs that benefit families that are on the edge of economic viability. So we help people heat their homes, we deliver meals on wheels,” said Rich Knoll, General Manager, team.
“It’s turned into quite an event. It’s sort of taken on a life of its own actually because of my husband, he loves to throw parties,” said Diane F. Baklik, event host.
“Team” has been collecting donations for kids all over the state. In 3 weeks a total of 5,000 toys will be handed out to some 1,500 children.
