Route 34 West project breaks ground

NEW HAVEN, Conn> (WTNH)– The Route 34 West project got underway in New Haven with a ground breaking ceremony Wednesday.

The mixed-use development will include the entire 5.5 acre block in the North Frontage Road area.

Continuum of Care, which provides residential, crisis, and medical home care services to 1500 people with mental illness, will be the anchor tenant. Yet, Mayor Toni harp says it will bring so much more to the area.

“It’s another step towards unification of our city, filling in this great divide that has been the Route 34 corridor,” said Harp.

The complex will also generate new jobs, retail shops, and other services over the next several years.
